About Charlotte

Charlotte grew up surviving on her own, tucked away at an abandoned house with only her siblings and a kind neighbor providing food. For more than a year, she knew nothing of a real home or loving people until rescue changed her fate. Now she’s adjusting to safety and learning bit by bit that being part of a family is possible. Her build is solid and her face unmistakable, and although Charlotte can look imposing at first, she’s only guarded because she hasn’t yet met many humans she can truly trust. Under those wary looks, she’s actually brimming with affection for anyone willing to meet her with patience and offer a gentler approach. Charlotte really shines in the company of other dogs. She visibly relaxes, gets silly, and shows a rambunctious, puppy-like energy that never got to flourish before. Play is her language, and a canine companion brings out her brightest, loosest self. With the right encouragement and another friendly dog, she could blossom into a goofy, joyful friend. She won’t bolt into your arms on day one. If you’re looking for a dog who repays patience and steady kindness with fierce loyalty, Charlotte is exactly that. She’s making progress each day, and she needs a person who accepts where she is and will keep showing her the good in people, one small success at a time. Montague County Animal Rescue believes dogs like Charlotte should be inside with their families—not left outdoors—so only apply if you’re ready to make her part of your home life.
