About Kenzie
Kenzie, short for MacKenzie, is a four-year-old neutered male with all the hallmark traits of a classic Domestic Short Hair. He’s energetic and thrives with a couple of play sessions daily, but handles solo time with toys and window-watching just fine. Kenzie likes things on a schedule and finds comfort in predictable routines; he adapts well if you’re consistent, but abrupt changes or loud guests can rattle his nerves. He’s a talker and makes his needs known, especially about mealtimes—he loves company while eating and isn’t a fan of being left out. Down time is for cuddling, ideally on or beside a soft, blanket-covered lap. He senses when you’re working, and will settle quietly nearby until you’re ready to hang out. Kenzie can get a little rough in play and doesn’t always gauge his own strength, but he’s learning with the right feedback. He does not get along with other pets or children, and his ideal adopter knows their way around cat body language. Kenzie is available for adoption in the Washington, D.C. area and must be met in his foster home before finalizing. Ready to meet your new best friend? Apply now!

How much outdoor space does this breed typically need?
Domestic Short Hair cats like Kenzie are perfectly content living exclusively indoors and do not require outdoor access, though they benefit from window perches and interactive play.
Is this breed typically suitable for homes with children?
Kenzie’s breed can sometimes adjust to homes with children, but Kenzie himself does best in an adult-only home due to his play style and sensitivity to noise and disruption.
