About Max
Start your journey together! Apply now. Meet Max! After losing his owner, Max was sadly left at a rural shelter, but now he's searching for his forever home. Max is an adult, small schnauzer and Yorkie blend, with a distinctive scruffy brindle coat and medium length fur that doesn’t shed—a rare bonus for allergy-prone adopters! At about 6 years old and weighing in at around 16 lbs, Max is a loving companion who shines as an only dog. He thrives on close human connection, loves to snuggle, and enjoys following his person around. Full of playful energy, Max adores walks and kickball sessions in the backyard. Enrichment toys filled with treats keep him happily busy. While he may be a bit cautious when meeting new people, he warms up given time, proving to be a loyal friend. To ensure Max’s happiness, homes must be without children under 10, have no chain link fences or apartments, and be located in the Dallas Metroplex or surrounding areas. He’s best suited as the only dog in the household. Adopters and fosters can look forward to a one week home trial. Fun fact: With a birthday of January 1, Max is a Capricorn—true to his sign, he’s independent yet forms deep bonds with those he trusts. Every animal deserves a happy ending. This one starts with you.

Questions about Max
What type of living environment is this breed usually best suited for?
Schnauzer/Yorkshire Terrier mixes typically thrive in homes where they can be close to their family. They do well in houses with secure yards, but can adapt to apartments if given ample daily exercise.
How much outdoor space does this breed typically need?
This mix enjoys access to a small yard to play and exercise but can also do well with walks and playtime if a yard is not available. Regular daily exercise is important to keep them mentally and physically stimulated.
Is this breed typically suitable for homes with children?
Schnauzer/Yorkshire Terrier mixes can do well with older children who are gentle and respectful. Because their small size can make them sensitive, they are typically best in homes with children over the age of 10.
