About Hemlock
Hemlock is about as sweet and polite as they come, and heās got the looks of a shrunken-down Great Dane in a small, sturdy body. Hemlockās a champion snuggler and happiest glued to your sideāhe really shines when he feels close and secure. Alone time is tough for him, so a home where someone is around most of the day, or willing to help him slowly gain confidence, is key. For now, heāll need anti-anxiety meds when left solo. Heās fully housetrained, walks well on the leash, and sleeps peacefully through the night. Cars arenāt his favorite, but food sure isāheās bounced back from being underweight, and mealtime is a highlight. Though his hearing and vision are less than perfect, his spiritās undimmed and his personality is huge. He chats enthusiastically when excitedāexpect some happy squeals, especially at breakfast and morning head scratches. Hemlock has done well with older kids, though his interactions with little ones havenāt been tested yet. On walks, Hemlock plays neighborhood watch dog, alerting anyone (or anything, including statues) to his presence. Heās reactive outside, but treats help, and he loves to patrol the yard, snooze in the sun, and strut in his collection of seasonal outfits. He needs a fenced yard to sniff and explore, and would thrive in a slow-paced, quiet environment with people who can offer structure, routine, and patience. Heās overcome a lot, and just wants a peaceful, loving retirement. Hemlock is currently fostered in Charlestown, WV, and waiting for the right family to make his later years gentle and bright.
