This beautiful boy was dumped in North Tulsa, Oklahoma in the summer of 2023 and spent over a year avoiding humans at all costs. He disappeared for a majority of 2024 and we assumed the worst. When he showed up to one of our food stations, we began our efforts of gaining trust and capturing him. Over the course of 3 months, we were able to pull up to feed him and he would run to greet us from a distance of about 10 to 15 feet. Once we knew it was safe to deploy a live trap, we were quickly successful. Nuka came to us with heartworms, tick borne disease that caused horrible swollen and painful joints, intestinal parasites, and a large fear of humans. He was so shut down for the first month of being an indoor dog but as time went on he began to realize we were safe, soft, kind humans and his personality has begun to shine. He has since been neutered, vaccinated, microchipped, brought to a healthy weight and treated for his heartworms and tick disease and is ready for a foster or adopter. He currently is in boarding. Nuka is dog friendly but would do better with a confident middle aged dog who's not overly invasive. He LOVES food, and LOVES belly rubs. He hates getting his feet wet and hates being cold. Nuka is kennel trained, and potty trained. Since we haven't had the experience of him being in an actual home, he is for foster to adopt! Nuka is located in Tulsa, Oklahoma.
