About Hero

Start your journey together! Apply now. Hero and his loyal companion Kalooki were left to fend for themselves just before a harsh freeze in Tulsa, bravely sticking together to survive the elements. When rescuers finally reached them, tragedy struck—Kalooki was hit by a car, and Hero, desperate for help, darted fearlessly into traffic to draw rescuers' attention, ultimately leading them right to his friend. Kalooki received urgent veterinary care while Hero found safety in a foster home. The two were briefly reunited before Kalooki sadly passed away, leaving Hero to grieve the loss of his friend, but also to seek a loving new chapter. Hero is a medium-sized Pittie mix with a striking black and white coat and a short, easy-to-care-for fur. He’s packed with love, affection, and thinks of himself as a lap dog, always eager to be close to the people he meets. Hero is crate trained and learning his house manners, already showing deep appreciation for comfort after all he's endured. He loves everyone he’s met so far—including children and other dogs—and is ready for a family to help him heal and thrive. Hero's story is one of resilience and hope, and he’s searching for the special someone who can be his true hero. Think you are the one? Submit an application!
