About Herbert The Derp

Herbert The Derp, better known as Herbert the Snowman, is a lovable, gigantic goofball pulled from a tough spot and now seeking his forever family in Tulsa, OK. At about 70 lbs, he's a walking comedy show, always eager to please (even if he sometimes misses the mark). Herbert rarely barks, keeps a tidy kennel, and doesn’t get destructive with his food. He’s not aggressive, but “a little gassy out both ends” is part of the package. He craves attention, sometimes gets overstimulated, and forgets about things like personal space—his enthusiasm is off the charts. He can also be mouthy and is still refining his impulse control, but has made real progress. If you're searching for a dog who’ll keep you laughing and aren’t fazed by a little roughhousing (or a strong, uncoordinated tail), Herbert might be your guy. He’s a bit clueless about toys, very sensitive, and new experiences can freak him out for a minute—he once ran headlong into a door after seeing a butterfly. Strange as it sounds, that's just Herby, and he always tries again. He’s submissive but initially timid around other dogs and slowly gaining confidence. With cats, Herbert is all nerves, preferring to hang back and observe. He’s friendly overall, but very small children aren’t the best fit until he’s better-mannered. Neutered, current on vaccines, kennel trained, and heartworm negative, Herbert is a sweet, handsome, one-of-a-kind companion who responds well to patient, consistent leadership. He needs an indoor home with a firm but gentle owner—being left outside isn’t safe for him. He’s not a guard dog, but he is endlessly entertaining and loves trying new things (sometimes hilariously). Herbert’s adoption fee is sponsored for approved adopters, and he’s open to foster offers if you want a taste of his daily antics. No young kids, indoor living only, and someone willing to help him keep learning. What are you waiting for? Apply today!
