About Calusa Located in
Calusa was brought in by the local police after being found as a stray, and despite being microchipped, no owner could be tracked down. MAD Rescue stepped up, got her up to date on her shots, and she’s now spayed. Calusa is a Belgian Malinois that leaves an impression: athletic, bold, and as stubborn as they come. At around 65-70 pounds and about four years old, she throws her whole self into everything—play, food, and whatever crosses her path. She's got a sky-high toy and food drive, matched only by her desire to test boundaries and break through them. This isn’t the Malinois for a beginner. Calusa needs an experienced handler prepared for her intensity and pushiness. She will chase, she will guard, and she will dominate any animal she can. She’s not a fit for homes with other dogs, cats, or kids. Meet her on her terms, though, and you’ll find she’s got a softer side: social on walks, eager to make friends outside, and loves cuddling up with her person at home. She understands structure, respects barriers if you hold them, and knows her way around a kennel. Calusa isn’t for the fainthearted, but the right person will find a loyal companion with her.
