Karmie is a 6-year-old poodle mix who’s looking for her next loyal human. She’s the definition of a shadow dog: Karmie wants to be at your side, loves car rides, takes long walks seriously, and can’t resist toys or even the occasional paper towel or shoe to chew. She’s fully potty trained and has spent her life as the only dog—first with an older adopter, and before that in an adult-only apartment. Now back in foster care, she’s warming up but will always need a calm, patient hand and someone who understands boundaries: she’ll warn you if she doesn’t want to be touched or groomed, and her anxiety spikes in new situations like the vet. Her trust doesn’t come instantly, but over her first few days in foster, she relaxed and found her groove. Karmie is not a fit for homes with young kids (14+ only), and does best as either an only pet or with laid back, adult dogs who will respect her limits. She shouldn’t be alone for long stretches.
