About Bear
Bear and his sister Harli are a bonded senior pair whose world was turned upside down when their longtime owner died. After being well loved for years, they found themselves surrendered to the shelter, where stress started to wear them down. They bounced between temporary and long-term fosters until landing at Lily’s, and now they’re waiting for a real home to settle in together. Bear, the 8-year-old neutered male, weighs about 61 lbs and looks after Harli, who is a bit more timid. Bear is never far from his sister, especially when she’s unsure—he steps in, always attentive, even offering comfort with a nuzzle when needed. He’s got a soft spot for plush toys and is rarely seen without his favorite stuffy. Both dogs relax once they’ve adjusted and are not high-maintenance—they mostly want to be near their person, getting belly rubs or back scratches. In foster homes, Bear and Harli have lived peacefully with other dogs, though they’d do best in a quieter, smaller pack or as the main focus. Their fosters describe them as gentle, calm, food and toy friendly, loyal, and easygoing. They’ve come through a lot and still have plenty of love and companionship to give. Their quiet bond brings out the best in both dogs. Every animal deserves a happy ending. This one starts with you.

Questions about Bear
What type of living environment is this breed usually best suited for?
Bear is a Border Collie mix, and dogs like him usually thrive in homes where they can bond closely with their people. He will do best in a quiet, stable household that values routine and companionship.
How much outdoor space does this breed typically need?
Bear would appreciate a safe, fenced yard, but as a senior Border Collie mix, he isn’t as demanding as younger dogs. A moderate outdoor space for short walks and sunbathing works well at this stage.
Is this breed typically suitable for homes with children?
Border Collie mixes like Bear tend to be gentle and family-oriented, especially with older or calm children. Because Bear is a senior and prefers a quieter setting, he’s best suited for homes with respectful kids.
