About Marcelita
Ready to meet your new best friend? Apply now! Meet Marcelita, also lovingly known as Marci or Marci girl—a beautiful, gentle 45lb. mixed-breed hound about three and a half years old. Marcelita is a special soul who recently had surgery to remove her eyes due to chronic, painful glaucoma and retinal degeneration. Her journey from a harsh start in the Bahamas, where she overcame immense challenges, has only enhanced her zest for life. Despite her blindness, Marcelita confidently navigates her world, mapping out both indoor and outdoor spaces with enthusiasm and ease. She adores naps and basking in the sun within the safety of a fenced yard, and her favorite place is snuggled up in her cozy bed with lots of pillows and a soft blanket to burrow in. Marci is incredibly sweet, laid-back, and never makes a sound. She's perfectly housebroken and walks gracefully on a harnessed leash. This kind, quiet girl gets along well with other dogs of all sizes and is also good with cats. While she can be a little timid, she genuinely enjoys affection, especially ear rubs and a soft brush through her coat. Marcelita thrives in homes where she can be surrounded by her people and appreciates a routine, safe environment. To support her comfort and independence, a home with a single story, a non-cluttered layout, no deep steps, and a securely fenced yard is required. Her foster mom shares how helpful various textured floor mats are for blind pups, providing them confidence as they explore their surroundings. Marcelita is looking for a best friend who is often home and committed to making life joyful and safe for a dog with special needs. Her adoption fee is sponsored, making this loving companion even more ready for her forever home. Think you are the one? Submit an application!
