About Maize
Maize is a feral cat who has learned the comfort of life indoors. Her story starts on Fort Drum, where her kittens were found inside a Humvee and brought to safety by soldiers. She was trapped and reunited with them, caring for her babies until they found homes of their own. When Maize came in, most of her tail was missing and ultimately needed to be amputated. She’s now spayed, fully vetted, and has been living quietly in a foster’s basement ever since. Despite nearly three years inside, Maize remains hands-off—she’s never warmed up to touch, but she coexists peacefully with other cats. She’s not a match for homes with dogs or young kids. Maize is strikingly beautiful and might relax with the right patient, experienced adopter. With time, she could become more comfortable, but she’ll need someone who understands her pace. They are ready to love you; are you ready to apply?
