About Dixie

Click apply and let the tail-wagging begin! Dixie is a striking, exuberant girl who truly loves every moment of life. She was part of a loving family before, but unfortunately had to be given up through no fault of her own. While she may be initially cautious with strangers, with proper introductions Dixie quickly warms up and makes fast friends. With her trusted people, she’s wonderfully affectionate, spirited, and playful—always ready for fun. Dixie is a strong dog with a notable prey drive, and she delights in chasing after lizards and even bees, so her future family should feel comfortable managing her energy on outings. She has received a good deal of training, and her new family should be ready to maintain consistent routines to help her continue thriving and respect boundaries. When she first arrived at the rescue, Dixie had some mouthy habits—a playful way she had learned to interact as a puppy—but she’s made great progress learning more appropriate behaviors. Her absolute favorite activity is chasing a tennis throw toy and then showing it off with pride. Dixie enjoys the company of compatible, confident dogs—she’s a lively playmate and would do best with canine companions who enjoy energetic play and don't mind letting her win a game of fetch. Dixie loves being around her family more than anything and simply wants to be included in household fun. Due to her exuberance, a home with older children is recommended, and she would not do well with cats. They are ready to love you; are you ready to apply?
