Franklin is a senior male Labrador Retriever with a large build. He is house trained and displays a gentle, loyal demeanor. Franklin has arthritis, so a single-story home with supportive flooring would be best. Located at Labradors and Friends Dog Rescue Group, he is great with children and gets along well with both dogs and cats.

About Franklin

Click apply to start the adoption process. Meet Franklin, a gentle senior Labrador looking to spend his golden years surrounded by love and comfort. At eight years old and weighing 82 pounds, Franklin is a beautiful Champagne English Lab who, despite a rough start in life, has blossomed into a sweet and loyal companion. He is fully house trained, never destructive, and displays exemplary leash manners during his beloved strolls around the neighborhood and golf course. For moments when his back legs need help, Franklin uses a special harness to keep moving forward. With arthritis in his hips and back, Franklin would thrive in a single-story home, preferably with carpet, and needs a family member strong enough to give him a hand when needed. He has a mellow temperament and enjoys low-to-moderate activity, spending much of his day napping close by and playing occasionally with plush squeaky toys. This affectionate "Velcro dog" will follow you lovingly from room to room. At night, Franklin sleeps soundly (and would gladly join you in bed if invited) and consistently shows perfect house manners. He is easy to groom, tolerating everything from nail trims to baths with patienceโ€”in fact, he loves his baths so much he once fell asleep during one! Franklin is wonderful with children, calm and gentle around parrots, and would likely coexist best with a submissive dog. Heโ€™s food-motivated, takes treats gently, and is polishing up his skills with new commands. Franklinโ€™s ideal home is with someone who is retired or works from home and wants a devoted companion always by their side. After enduring so much, he truly deserves a loving, comfortable environment and a family who will treasure him. Make their next chapter their best one yet.
