Gidget is a 13-year-old, 8-pound mix of Yorkshire Terrier and Chihuahua who's looking to enjoy her golden years with someone who appreciates a good snuggle and a warm lap. Shy at first, she warms up quickly and can't get enough of belly rubs or toys—she truly lights up at playtime, showing off those little happy dances when food is coming. Most of her days are spent relaxing, though she still has spurts of energy for treats, play, or a burst of affection. She’s dog friendly, but does appreciate her own space and isn’t afraid to set boundaries with fellow pups—classic senior dog manners. Gidget is house trained for the most part, but relies on potty pads and may occasionally miss the mark, especially on soft carpets. She’s crate trained and travels quietly in a crate, but she’s not a fan of being crated for long stretches and may adapt well to being left loose or in her own room when home alone, especially since she doesn't typically get into mischief, unless food is out. Medically, Gidget is spayed, vaccinated, microchipped, has recent clean bloodwork, and recently had a dental cleaning (with eight teeth removed). She deals with a touch of arthritis and dry eye—nothing unusual for her age—and is being monitored for mammary tumors, which vets believe may not be an issue going forward.
