About Thelma

Give them the home they have been waiting for. Apply today. Thelma is the younger of the two Bagel girls, a delightful Basset Hound/Beagle mix. She likely spent her younger life as a hunting dog, living in an outdoor pen. Despite her small stature, she is sturdy and strong. Thelma has a sweet nature and loves to cuddle on the couch, soaking up pets and belly rubs. However, her instinct to follow her nose is strong—when left outside alone, she transforms into a rabbit hound, always ready for an adventure. She can find her way out of a backyard if not supervised, but when you join her and call her back in, she is more than happy to come along. Currently adjusting from her old working life to life as a cherished companion, Thelma is thriving. Alongside her rescue partner, Louise, she was found after being posted on a Lost and Found page for a rural Kentucky community. Thanks to a dedicated volunteer, Thelma and her friend were brought to safety and have begun their new chapter. Given her background, Thelma is not recommended for homes with small animals, yet she enjoys the company of other dogs and people of all ages. She even handled her first truck ride well—though she may want to help you drive if not secured! To encourage her continued growth as a companion, it’s best for Thelma and her friend to find separate homes. Ready to meet your new best friend? Apply now!
