About Oakland
Oakland is a striking black and white long-haired cat with vivid green eyes, rescued in Oakland, CA as a tiny kitten. She was born with congenital deformities in all four legs; her front legs have been corrected, and although her back legs point in unusual directions, Oakland hasn’t let that slow her down. After dedicated medical care and plenty of love, she’s grown into a strong, funny, independent cat who moves at her own pace. Oakland does take some time to warm up to new people, but once she knows you, she thrives on gentle attention. She gets along well with other cats and would be happy as an only kitty or sharing her home with a feline companion, especially another adoptable cat she knows from her foster. Oakland isn’t a fan of being carried around, but she loves having room to climb and needs cat trees to help her explore. Her special needs do require monthly Solensia injections and weekly Adequan injections to keep her arthritis managed—her adopter should be prepared for the ongoing cost and attention. Otherwise, she’s very self-sufficient and enjoys life to the fullest. Oakland will do best with a committed adopter who can provide her ongoing care and understands a cat with physical challenges. If you’re looking for a resilient, quirky companion with a strong streak of independence, Oakland may be the perfect fit. Ready to meet your new best friend? Apply now!
