About Peggy

Click apply to start the adoption process. Peggy was left behind when her previous owner moved, but now she's looking for a new beginning at the Humane Society of Highlands County. She previously lived with two small dogs and is three years old, weighing about 66 pounds. Though initially timid and scared, Peggy has shown she is capable of warming up quickly to people she trusts, especially the caring staff at the shelter. Peggy tested positive for heartworm, but the shelter will cover the cost of her treatment, ensuring she receives the care she needs. If you have another dog at home, a meet and greet will be required to ensure it's a good match. The adoption donation includes her spay, up-to-date vaccinations, and microchip. Please note that the shelter prioritizes the needs of the dogs and works diligently to match each pet with the most compatible home environment. Applicants must be at least 21 years old, and home photos may be requested as part of the process. The shelter reserves the right to deny applications to ensure the best outcome for each dog.
