Custard Special Needs Diagnosis
AvailableCustard is a male, long-haired Domestic Medium Hair cat who is currently at the Humane Society of Marion County. He has tested positive for FIV and will need to be kept indoors as the only cat, except for his bonded FIV-positive sister Sunny. He is an adult, medium-sized cat who is already neutered and up to date on vaccinations. His care may require special attention over time, but with proper love and monitoring, he can thrive in the right environment.
About Custard Special Needs Diagnosis
Every animal deserves a happy ending. This one starts with you. Custard was rescued recently and tested positive for FIV, a lifelong, cat-only disease. While FIV is not fatal on its own and many cats with this diagnosis live long and happy lives, there is a chance he may need special veterinary care over his lifetime, though a completely healthy life is also possible. Because FIV is mainly spread through serious bites, extra precautions are required: Custard cannot be adopted into a home with other cats, unless his bonded sister Sunny—who also has FIV—is adopted with him. These siblings are looking for an indoor-only, adult-only home due to their unique needs, and this policy is strict to keep both cats safe. For Custard and Sunny's well-being, adopters will need to provide a completed application and solid veterinary references. There is a no-declaw policy, and adopters of FIV-positive cats sign an acknowledgment of the diagnosis. Please consider opening your heart and home to Custard and Sunny—these special needs friends deserve a loving chance at a happy life together! Lets make it official, apply to adopt!
