Jackson, also called "Jaxy" by the staff and volunteers, is a 3-year-old pit bull terrier mix with a big, active personality. He came to rescue after his previous owner couldn't keep him, and it takes him a little while to decide who he trusts. Once he feels safe, he turns into a goofy, affectionate companion who absolutely adores his people. Jackson is happiest outside where he can run, sniff, and play with his toys for hours. He’s quick to show off his "sit" and "paw" commands and is learning how to walk nicely on leash—though if a squirrel or bird wanders by, expect a little excitement and a tug! Treats are his currency and he’ll melt for a good butt scratch, sometimes flopping down in dramatic fashion just to soak up attention. Jackson has been a hit on our Doggy Day Out program. Volunteers describe him as silly and strong, with a knack for people-watching from a safe distance—he’s not big on bustling crowds, but he’s curious and alert. He’s famously rolled around in every corner of a house and makes everyone laugh with his antics. Jaxy needs to be the only pet in the home.
