About Gus!
Every animal deserves a happy ending. This one starts with you. Gus was rescued from a high-risk situation two years ago after being left by a lake and facing euthanasia in another shelter due to overcrowding and lack of adoption interest. Once he arrived at Hickory Hollow Animal Refuge, the shelter environment proved stressful and Gus had to be separated from his companion, Francis. Gus is a bundle of energy when it's time for walks and play, but he does settle down and relax when things are calm and comfortable. At around 3 years old, this large, muscular boy weighs in at approximately 85 pounds. Despite his strength and size, Gus has a softer side—he becomes anxious during storms and rainy weather, finding comfort in a cozy blanket to help him feel safe. If you’re looking for an affectionate and devoted companion who will thrive in a patient, loving home, Gus may be the perfect addition to your family. They are ready to love you; are you ready to apply?
