About Forrest
Meet Forrest, This 7 month old border collie puppy that found himself on an Alabama euthanasia list for no other reason than "length of stay". Despite his soulful brown eyes, intelligence, and loyalty, he and his litter were going to be put down due to a lack of space at the shelter. He is a relatively new addition to the rescue, but so far, he's been food motivated, playful, quiet in his kennel, and hasn't had any accidents. He is a quick learner, and true to the breed. He is full of energy and has natural instincts to herd, doing the classic "border collie crawl". Being a puppy (and being raised in a small, muddy, isolating pen his whole life), there are still skills he needs to work on. He is a jumper, he'll need to build confidence with new experiences, and he sometimes herds other dogs during play (though he accepts corrections from them as well). Between his brains and his age, he has his whole life ahead of him. He would love a home that understands how smart border collies are, and how to keep them engaged and entertained. He would love to stay active with you, being your jogging partner, hiking buddy, or fishing companion. To apply, please fill out our adoption application at herdinghomerescue.com/adopt We do adopt out of state, including Hawaii, but adopter is responsible for expenses related to transport. He is also looking for a foster local to Central Tx. To apply to foster, visit herdinghomerescue.com/foster Do NOT inquire through or apply to foster/adopt via Petfinder.
