About Beau
Beau is a five-year-old Treeing Walker Coonhound who weighs about 67 pounds and absolutely loves being outdoors. He thrives when he has space to run, dig, and take in the world around him—he’ll often finish a bout of zoomies by flopping down just to watch the action. While he’ll share a fence line with other dogs without trouble, he isn’t one to roughhouse or race; Beau’s nose is his guide, and he prefers sniffing to sprinting. Leash walks can be a challenge since his tracking skills kick in, making it easy for him to pull toward interesting scents. He needs a securely fenced yard or a committed owner willing to use a long line and supervise him closely—letting him track off-leash just isn’t an option. At mealtimes, Beau has shown some food guarding with certain people, so he isn’t the right fit for someone seeking a first dog. Beau does best in an adult home, or with kids over 7 who understand boundaries, and he should be the only pet. Ready to meet your new best friend? Apply now!
