About Carlito
Carlito arrived scared, underweight, and wary of his new world after being transferred from the San Diego Humane Society, but he’s shown real spirit as he’s settled in. Now at a healthy weight and eager for play, Carlito has a silly, lively side that emerges once he trusts you—zooming around the play yard with friends is one of his favorite things. Despite bursts of energy, he’s a bit skittish around new experiences and the outside world, still seeking comfort in gentle routines and familiar faces. Patience is important with Carlito. He’s nervous about harnesses and leashes due to a rough history on the street, and he’ll need a very secure, escape-proof yard where he can safely stretch his legs without fear. He prefers not to be held, but he will climb into a lap for quiet affection once you earn his trust. Carlito gets along with dogs, cats, and children alike, making him an endearing choice for a gentle household. Given his background as a survivor, plan on moving at his pace and investing in building his confidence. If you’re looking for a small, bright dog who rewards gentle persistence, Carlito’s ready for his next chapter. Ready to fall in love? Hit apply and lets get started.
