About Maple
Lets make it official, apply to adopt! Meet maple! This lovely Chihuahua first came to the rescue three years ago from a challenging background. Now five years old, maple’s early days were filled with fear; she struggled to trust humans, often running and pleading to avoid being touched. Through patient fostering, maple slowly learned what it meant to feel safe and started to blossom into a sweet companion. After finding a loving family, maple thrived—adventuring alongside horses, swimming, camping, and keeping an attentive eye on the household’s children and pets. However, she remains an independent spirit who prefers gentle interactions and shies away from noise or being handled without her permission. Sadly, unforeseen circumstances returned maple to the shelter before she could be welcomed back to the rescue. Despite a stressful setback, maple has again shown her resilience, adapting in her current foster home and regaining her confidence. Maple would do best in a calm home, ideally with children over 12, where her independence is respected. She doesn't enjoy leashes or harnesses due to her history and currently uses potty pads indoors. She is crate trained, loves lounging in sunny spots, and cherishes her treats, cozy blankets, and the company of her person. Once she finds that special connection, maple will be fiercely loyal for life. They are ready to love you; are you ready to apply?
