About Scout
Scout is a 2-year-old Dutch shepherd/mountain cur mix with a striking brindle and cream coat. His story started rough—rescued as a baby from the desert with his litter and mom—but you’d never guess it when you see him chase tennis balls with relentless joy. Scout is goofy, affectionate, and especially big dog friendly. He’s very shy around new people and places, but once he trusts you, he’s a champion snuggler and loves lounging on the couch. Scout does well with other large, balanced dogs. He hasn’t spent time with kids or small dogs, and because he sometimes plays rough, he’d do best in homes with adults or older children who understand gentle introductions. Scout isn’t keen on walks or adventures outside the yard; loud or busy environments can overwhelm him. Where he shines is in a calm, predictable home with a fenced yard and a confident canine companion. Most of his exercise comes from chasing his beloved squeaky tennis balls—sometimes kicking or carrying them straight to your hand. He is neutered, house trained, vaccinated, microchipped, crate trained, walks well on leash, and knows basic commands. Prospective adopters should have patience, a welcoming spirit, and ideally another dog to help him build trust and confidence. Scout will make a loving, loyal friend for the right household.
