Duke
AvailableDuke is a large, neutered male, Hound/Labrador Retriever mix who is around 3 years and 9 months old. He is currently living in Augusta, GA and is fully vaccinated and house trained. Duke's puppy-like energy and background as a stray mean he will do best with structure and an active household.
About Duke
Duke started out as a stray puppy, surviving on the streets of Richmond County before landing at the local shelter. Pulled by Hands to Paws, he found his way into foster care and was eventually adopted by a military family. Unfortunately, the household dynamics didn't work out—Duke's energy clashed with their older dog, and he returned to rescue. Now, living in a boarding facility, Duke is searching for a foster or forever home that can give him structure and activity. His puppy energy is still front and center—he'll need a tall wire or privacy fence for safe running, and he'd thrive with an active family who likes walks or playtime. Every Wednesday, Duke joins playgroups with other dogs, though he can get a bit testy with certain personalities, especially around mealtime. Years of fending for himself have left him defensive about food, so feeding him in his crate and leaving him be during meals works best. Outside of those quirks, Duke just wants a place where he can belong, run, and be a loyal companion. Ready to fall in love? Hit apply and lets get started.
