About Jake
Jake is a sharp, lively Schipperke mix who thrives on adventure and routine. At just over four years old, he is a fantastic walking and hiking companionāhappy to keep pace for several miles and always up for a new trail. True to his breed, Jake is energetic and rarely chooses walking when he can trot or scamper on ahead. Still, he balances his drive with a genuine desire to be near his people, whether thatās hanging out at your side or settling onto your lap. Jake isnāt a frequent barker, but heās alert and will sound off if thereās a good reason. Heās smart, inquisitive, and forms strong bonds once he gets to know you. Jake does well in a crate and takes comfort in the structure of his daily walks, whatever the weather. Like most Schipperkes, heās suspicious of strangers and has sharp senses. He could be comfortable as an only dog or sharing a home with another small dog, ideally a fellow Schipperke. Jake requires an all-adult household without young children and needs a securely fenced yardāfour feet or higher, with very small gaps and securely attached to the home. Invisible fences, decks, pens, or shared fencing wonāt work for him; solid fencing is non-negotiable. Jake is fostered in Greensboro, NC. Interested adopters should be prepared for an in-person meeting following a home visit, and must live in NC, SC, VA, or East TN. Jake is neutered and up to date on all vaccines.
