Happy Holidays! Winter came early this year & so did the cold & snow. We desperately need to make room to get even MORE Moms, kittens and other cats in from the freezing temps & get them fixed, so they don't have to suffer. We get multiple calls for help everyday but can only help more when more we have get homes. Please consider adopting! And tell your friend to adopt too! Our adoption rates have been down so we are hoping everyone wants to give a kitty a home this year! We still have lots of kittens & some of our older cats are hoping for a Christmas miracle...a home! Hi, I'm Dancer. I'm here at the shelter, just patiently waiting for my furrrever home. I've been waiting almost 365 days- that's a year! Before I got to the shelter, I was living outside and thought no one cared about me. I started to believe all the rumors I heard about black kitties...that we are bad luck?! I thought that's what it is, I'm just an unlucky black kitty. *Sigh*. But then, one day my luck changed and a person started feeding me and talking nice to me! The next thing I know, I'm inside at the shelter warm, with lots of dry and wet kitty food and lots of people are talking nice to me!! Everyone says I'm a lucky kitty and I'm starting to believe it too! I'm also starting to think those rumors I heard before are just that...rumours! In fact, I'd like to spread my good luck now! I think I could be your good luck charm too! I know I'm not a cute little kitten, my fur is very soft & black and I will probably be a little shy at first with someone new but nothing is stopping my positive vibes! I know someone will give me my furrrever home! The people at the shelter pet me, but I want more pets! I'd just like a home filled with love and affection too! I like other kitties and to play, so a home with another older or gentle kitty (with the proper introduction) would be best. I will probably be shy, so having another kitty around will help me feel more confident ! However, probably NO dogs and older kids might be okay too. I would probably do best in a quiet home and with a person (or people) that have patience with me until I feel safe in my new space. I'm hoping to get another chance soon! Our volunteers work with shy and/or unsocialized kitties everyday to gain their trust to show them they are safe and no one will hurt them. However, when the kitties go to a new home, some will require extra time to get used to new surroundings and different people. Please consider giving a kittie who might need a little time to get used to a new home, a chance. This is a serious commitment and it sets the kitties back in their level of trust if they are given up after a few weeks or months.
