Chelsea
AvailableChelsea is a young, spayed female Beagle/Dalmatian mix residing in Winston Salem, NC. She is medium-sized and, while her coat color isn’t specified, she has a gentle spirit shaped by her history. Chelsea has been spayed and does well with other dogs. She is crate-trained and would thrive in a home with a secure, fenced yard.
About Chelsea
Chelsea came in as a stray and it’s clear life has not always been kind to her—she showed signs of past abuse and is startled by canes and sudden movements. After finding some comfort with her first adopter, she needs a new home due to her caregiver’s health decline. Chelsea still associates safety with a familiar environment and gets nervous in new places, so she’ll need some patience and understanding. She enjoys playing with other foster dogs but can sometimes be bossy or dominant. Shy at first, Chelsea usually warms up once she feels safe. She’s a bit of a flight risk in new situations, so a securely fenced yard is non-negotiable and leash walks should be double-leashed until she’s settled. Very food- and treat-motivated, she’s crate-trained and increasingly prefers her crate at night. She’s not suitable for homes with young children. A vet reference and fenced yard are both required for her adoption. This is a dog that could blossom with gentle structure and a loving hand. What are you waiting for? Apply today!

Questions about Chelsea
What type of living environment is this breed usually best suited for?
Chelsea’s Beagle/Dalmatian mix background means she’d do best in a home with space—ideally with a securely fenced yard. This mix adapts well indoors but benefits from stability and a safe, quiet setting.
How much outdoor space does this breed typically need?
Chelsea is medium-sized and active. Her breed mix appreciates daily exercise and secure outdoor time, so a fenced yard is strongly recommended for her.
Is this breed typically suitable for homes with children?
Chelsea herself is not suitable for homes with young children, even though Beagle/Dalmatians can sometimes do well in family settings. Her skittishness and need for a calm, structured home make her a better fit for adults or homes with older, calm kids only.
