About Herbie

Start your journey together! Apply now. Herbie is like the big brother everyone wished for back in high school—handsome, athletic, bright, and genuinely good-hearted. Although he may be a bit reserved with new people at first, once he learns to trust, Herbie shows unwavering loyalty. He is selective with other dogs and might get along with a laid-back, medium to large female dog, but not with males, smaller dogs, or cats due to his high prey drive. If you want a charismatic companion with movie-star good looks and a spirited attitude, Herbie is waiting for you! He is around three-and-a-half years old, weighs about 60 pounds, and is believed to be a Shepherd/Hound mix. He is currently being fostered in New Paltz, NY. Herbie is an energetic dog who loves long daily walks and thrives with plenty of exercise. A home with a six-foot fully fenced yard is required for him—he doesn't enjoy dog parks and would do best in an active, dog-savvy household. His foster mom shares that Herbie is completely house trained, knows basic commands, and is delightfully affectionate in his own unique way—often nudging you for attention or resting his head in your lap. Herbie doesn't have much experience with cars, so he's still learning about travel. Ideally, his new home will have another confident, friendly, playful dog for him to learn from and help him come out of his shell, as he can be a bit shy adjusting to new environments. Herbie is neutered, vaccinated, microchipped, and ready to join his forever family. Please note that an invisible fence will not be accepted. Make their next chapter their best one yet.
