Ducky is a 65-pound neutered male German Shepherd/Akita mix who lives up to the label “shy but sweet.” He has spent months at the Elk Grove Animal Shelter, winning over staff and volunteers with his gentle nature, but his hesitation with new places and people has meant adopters keep walking past his kennel. Once he decides to trust someone, Ducky will lean in for affection and loves a calm companion. His medium coat, in red and cream, stands out in the yard, where he divides his time between making friends in playgroups and relaxing in the sun. He gets along well with other dogs and is known as a playgroup ambassador, keeping the energy upbeat but balanced. Ducky also walks nicely on leash and seems comfortable around children.
