About Rita

Rita is a spayed female German Shepherd Dog, about 5 years old, and currently fostered in Round Rock, TX. She narrowly escaped a Texas shelter after raising a litter of puppies, and now she's finally getting the care she deserves. When Rita first arrived, she was severely underweight, but thanks to good food and attentive foster care, she's filled out nicely and her rough coat is turning thick and shiny. At around 70 pounds, her build is classic shepherd—large, strong, with a medium coat. Rita is house and crate trained and sleeps through the night without a fuss. She's very food motivated, which makes her eager to learn new things. While she gets along with most dogs, she prefers the company of humans, bonding hard and fast to her person and displaying indifference to other dogs. She's usually best with male or larger female dogs, but ideally would shine as an only pet. Kids and cats are untested, so her compatibility there is unknown. Rita is current on vaccinations, microchipped, and has begun a heartworm treatment using the slower method. If you're looking for a loyal companion to stay by your side, Rita is a great choice.
