Her small size makes her an ideal companion for those looking for a loving and manageable pet.

About Phoebe D

Every animal deserves a happy ending. This one starts with you. Poor Phoebe spent about two months in the shelter and was understandably nervous and scared of the chaotic environment, with loud barking and unfamiliar noises all around her. Once she was out of the shelter setting and into a quieter office, she began to relax and immediately sought cuddles from the staff, showing her sweet and gentle side. She interacted well with other shelter dogs, transporters, and at the vet's office, often enjoying cuddles with her volunteer transporter. At her foster home, Phoebe was initially shy and hid, but quickly warmed up, greeting her foster person with affection. She now happily spends her days feeling safe and loved, and her foster describes her as having a princess-like charm. Phoebe lives with three other dogs in her foster home and gets along well with certain dogs, especially if they are larger than she is, though she may guard her favorite person and her food. She requires training and clear boundaries, and responds well to guidance. After a week at her foster home, Phoebe has blossomed into a bold, affectionate companion. She can be protective of her food and person, especially around the home's female bulldog, but gets along well with a smaller female Chihuahua and a large dog. To keep the peace, Phoebe should be fed in a separate area and taught to wait her turn. Walks and cuddle time are her favorites. She enjoys the company of larger male or female dogs, but the best fit for Phoebe would be a home as the only dog or with a compatible larger dog. An experienced adult home would help her thrive, though older children are fine. Phoebe now reliably goes outside for potty, is nearly leash trained, and welcomes attention from new visitors, including men and friends of her foster family. Ready to fall in love?
