About Mel
Mel started out her journey on the streets, living among a crowd of feral cats until she was trapped in early 2025. A vet visit revealed that she was already spayed, though there was no microchip to tell her story. Mel carries a shy nature, especially around unfamiliar people and environments. Quick movements and loud noises send her scurrying for the safety of her hiding spots, but once she realizes it’s safe or familiar people are near, she comes out and seeks affectionate head scratches. Purring comes easy when she feels comfortable, and she enjoys a calm, patient approach from her humans. She’s had some mild food allergies, but a move to a hypoallergenic diet cleared things up, and her foster is carefully expanding her menu to isolate specific allergens. Mel recently transitioned to a new foster home after her original foster family moved. She handled the change with her familiar cautious but sweet style and keeps showing progress. A quieter home with hiding spots will help Mel settle in her own time. She’d thrive as a solo kitty but also gets along with other friendly cats if introductions are managed slowly. Older, respectful kids should be fine, but Mel does not do well with dogs. She is combo-tested, fully vaccinated, spayed, and house trained. She’s ready for a gentle, stable home where she can truly become herself. Click apply and let the tail-wagging begin!
