About Kallie
Kallie is a senior calico with plenty of personality and very specific needs. Currently living with her foster family in Westford, MA, she’ll require any meet-and-greets to happen there so she stays comfortable and doesn’t get overly stressed by a trip to New Hampshire. Kallie is all about the lap life—she’ll purr away while sitting with you or curl up beside you in bed for ear rubs, chirping and rolling over for more attention. She was originally adopted as a kitten but returned to shelter care later in life due to her previous owners’ medical situation. Even at her age, Kallie is alert and occasionally playful, chasing shoestrings and enjoying catnip. She relishes head scratches, and you’ll sometimes find her soaking up the sun, truly in her element when she feels loved and secure. Kallie does manage some arthritis in her hips. At present, she’s off medication, but Gabapentin should be available if her needs change. She can get onto your lap or a window perch but will need multiple steps or ramps for higher spots—jumping down is hard on her and she may hiss or growl. She’s proficient with a cat tree that has lots of levels, but will sometimes give a nip if overhandled, so a cat-experienced, patient adopter is a must. Kallie thrives on mental stimulation; she’ll easily get bored with standard cat fare like bird feeders or cat TV. Give her interesting challenges if you want to keep her out of mischief. She loves food, especially chicken, and will eat almost anything, but she’s dominant with other pets and needs to be the only cat or dog in the home. No children, either—she’s happiest with adults who can respect her signals. Patience is key; once settled, her real personality will come through. Ready to fall in love?
