About Ritchey Roo
Ritchey Roo is a big, social guy who easily switches between being relaxed and downright exuberant. At his core, he thrives around people—whether it’s quiet couch time or following you around, he wants to be part of the action. He doesn’t mind hanging out on his own, and you’ll often catch him lounging inside or outside, especially if you have a fenced yard. He’s house-trained and content to nap when left alone, but if you pick up a leash, his hound energy takes over and he’s ready to go. Ritchey enjoys affection, sleeping in bed with his person, and genuinely seems to revel in your company, though he’s not needy. He isn’t into toys or fetch, but he loves car rides and long walks (though you should be prepared—he’s a strong puller and needs some solid leash work). His comedic, food-motivated side shines through whenever there’s a hint of a treat or a harness in sight, sometimes resulting in boundless, clumsy enthusiasm. He’ll talk when he feels like it, and his hound bark lands at the oddest, funniest moments. This 5-6 year old, large mixed-breed (pit bull terrier and hound), came to the rescue very underweight but now could use a little less kibble and a bit more activity. He’s gone back and forth between foster homes and boarding, getting along with most dogs at a distance, but he’s happiest as the only pet in the house—someone to spoil him solo. He’s a one-of-a-kind companion, perfect for someone who wants an affectionate, unique dog who isn’t for everyone, but means everything to the right people.
