Sassy is a sweet, gentle, and playful dog who usually keeps quiet unless prompted by others. She’ll melt you with the way she rests her head in your hands and shows her affection. At about 3 or 4 years old and roughly 40 lbs, Sassy balances being energetic and mellow. While she can be a bit timid and shy at first, patience and kindness help her open up. Once she’s comfortable, her happy and friendly nature shines through. She gets along great with other dogs and kids, and her foster describes her as silly, athletic, and always eager to see what’s happening around her. In new places, Sassy acts cautious and observant, and sudden noises or movements can make her jumpy—she prefers a leash for public spaces, just in case she’s startled. Loud noises aren’t her favorite, but she has handled being around chickens without issue. There’s no storm or separation anxiety to worry about, and Sassy doesn’t display destructive habits. She is house-trained, crate-trained, and knows basic commands like sit and sometimes lay down. Her energy level is high, but not hyper, and after a good play session, she enjoys lounging on the couch. Sassy does best with adopters willing to help her build confidence at her own pace.
