Lyra is a spayed female American Bully in Corpus Christi, TX. She’s considered medium-sized, with a short coat patterned in black, white, and chestnut tones. Lyra is house trained, fully vaccinated, and has special needs due to her disability and medical history. She’s best suited for a home without other animals and connects best with adults and teens.

About Lyra

Lyra has survived more than most dogs ever will. At around five years old, she was found in deep distress, suffering alone in a backyard until animal control picked her up. She went through a dire emergency surgery after being discovered in labor, but only one puppy survived—and only for a week. Lyra came out of the shelter with a host of medical issues: a painful skin condition, scars from repeated breeding, and a missing paw that left open sores. Her back leg was ultimately amputated, and she also had to battle heartworms. All of her immediate medical needs have now been treated. Despite it all, Lyra’s love for people hasn’t faded. She is robust, friendly, and eager for human attention—crawling into your lap as if she were half her size. At about knee-high and weighing around 47 pounds, she doesn’t quite realize her own strength. Lyra cannot live with other animals; she needs to be the only pet and would thrive in a family with teenagers or adults who can provide clear boundaries and strong leadership. Trainers agree she responds well to proper structure and firm, positive direction. She’s house trained, adores affection, and is very much ready to finally relax and belong. Lyra’s journey’s been rough, and it’s time for someone to show her the gentle side of life. They are waiting with paws crossed! Apply now!
