About Rosco
Meet Rosco—a shepherd mix with a big heart and a lot of resilience. He’s been waiting for a home since December 2021, first entering rescue after his previous shelter closed and then spending over three years in a kennel. Even with so much time spent waiting, Rosco hasn’t lost his easygoing spirit or gentle nature. At six years old, Rosco is house trained and has excellent manners. He’s calm, affectionate, and loves car rides, happily watching the world go by from the window. His favorite activity is playing in water—kiddie pools, hoses, even the chance to swim lights him up. Rosco knows basic commands like sit, down, and shake, takes treats gently, and is kennel trained for both day and night. He gets along well with larger dogs if introduced properly, though he isn’t a fit for homes with cats, small dogs, or children, as they make him uneasy. An adult-only household would give him the peace he needs. Rosco is neutered, microchipped, and up to date on vaccinations. He’s located in Phoenix, AZ, and truly ready for his next chapter. Every animal deserves a happy ending. This one starts with you.

Questions about Rosco
What type of living environment is this breed usually best suited for?
Rosco, being a shepherd mix, generally does best in a home with ample space and a calm environment. Shepherds appreciate having a routine and thrive in households that provide clear boundaries and regular companionship.
How much outdoor space does this breed typically need?
Large breeds like Rosco’s shepherd mix background do well with access to a backyard or regular trips to spacious parks. While he loves water and time outside, a secure yard or frequent walks are ideal for meeting his needs.
Is this breed typically suitable for homes with children?
Shepherds can be wonderful with children, but Rosco is nervous around kids and would do best in an adult-only home. He’ll thrive in a quiet environment without young children.
