About Griffin
Griffin is a 3 year old 17 lb Maltipoo. He’s neutered, microchipped, current on vaccines along with heartworm preventation. Griffin was owned all his 3 yrs by a college aged young man and Griffin clearly loved this young man. While in foster care he’s been mourning the loss of his old life. He has been growling at times, along with howling like a cry because he misses his old life. We absolutely cannot have an inexperienced owner for him. Must be someone with patience and dog knowledge for him to process his new situation. Must be familiar with this breeds grooming needs. No first time pet owner. Must live in DFW area Must have a vet reference on past or current pets A completed, approved application must been on file before we can set up a meet and greet. Home Visit He is completely house trained Great in a car Great on a leash He loves being groomed More from volunteers medical coordinator In all transparency He does not engage with other dogs He feels they are beneath him Is he mean to them? No, just indifferent. I would never recommend Griffin around children. If he was my dog he would be put up when guest arrive. So he’s kept safe. A college guy owned him for three years and that’s the reason he’s not socialized with other dogs and even less with people. He would be a project dog for a experienced owner. Griffin tolerates his foster. He treats her like, “the help”. Now that I’ve been transparent about everything you need to be aware of. Here’s what’s great and amazing about him He’s totally house trained He’s great in the car and on a leash He has a chicken allergy so no chicken He also takes daily meds for seasonal allergies. If griffin had been a puppy with us his owner would have never been allowed to adopt. Because when you do not establish rules and boundaries keep them socialized and not isolated for long periods of a time. You get the griffin now. We avoid this at all cost. He’s also brilliant, highly intelligent. Things are done on his terms right now. We want a pet owner to realize this guy's needs and not let him fall through the cracks like he did his first 3 yrs. If you still want an application, let us know.
