Jelly Bean is a small, black cat who was born in a trailer park and got an early start at life with a remarkable foster. He developed megacolon as a kitten, which led to emergency visits for enemas and ultimately surgery to remove the affected part of his colon. Since then, he’s been able to go on his own and is now thriving. However, Jelly Bean does have lingering nerve damage post-surgery and must stick to a smooth pate diet—dry food or solid chunks upset his digestion, and he sometimes eats too quickly, which can cause choking or coughing. At just around a year old, he remains a petite 6 lbs. Despite his medical history, he is a sweetheart: playful, gentle, and communicative with his expressive eyes and slow blinks.
