About Rusty

After wandering Central IL for over a month on his own, Rusty was finally brought to safety and has started to settle into foster care. He's shy at first, but once he trusts you, he’ll curl up for cuddles and is happiest as a couch potato with his favorite people and toys. Rusty's about five years old and spent much of his life surviving on the streets in Florida before spending another two years in a shelter. Rusty prefers a calm environment and is well-mannered in the house. He gets along with gentle, mellow female dogs but is anxious around very energetic or rambunctious dogs. House and kennel training come naturally to him, but situations with loud or high-energy toddlers are stressful—he needs a peaceful home where he won’t feel overwhelmed. Patience is key, as Rusty will need time to warm up. He’ll need a securely fenced yard to keep him safe. Rusty's adoption fee is sponsored and his vaccinations, neuter, microchip, and preventatives are all taken care of. They are waiting with paws crossed! Apply now!
