Although he is shy at first, he’s looking for a patient family who can give him the time and love he deserves.
About Rusty
Your new best friend is just one click away. After facing a month on his own in Central Illinois, Rusty made his way safely to the rescue and is settling into his foster home. This gentle golden retriever/labrador mix is about five years old, and though his start in life was challenging—having survived Florida’s streets and a long shelter stay—he retains a loving spirit. Rusty is shy at first but finds comfort and joy snuggling with his foster family, enjoying toys, and soaking up quiet time as a devoted couch potato. Despite his shy nature, Rusty warms up when he feels secure and craves affection and simple comforts. He thrives in a calm environment, doing best with mellow female dogs and finding active or boisterous dogs overwhelming. Rusty is house and kennel trained and handles indoor life with beautiful manners. He needs a patient family who will give him time to settle and blossom in their care. Small children or chaotic spaces may make him nervous, so a tranquil home with a secure fence and understanding routines is best. Before long, his signature happy dog dance will be a heartwarming daily sight. Rusty’s adoption fee is sponsored and includes his vaccinations, neuter, heartworm testing, microchip, and ongoing preventatives while in the rescue’s care. Lets make it official, apply to adopt!
