About Shy
Shy’s story is an open wound: left behind after his people moved, he survived outdoors for a year thanks only to a neighbor’s daily effort. As the months passed, his bright spirit faded and the neighbor stepped in for help. Shy is a neutered male, roughly middle-aged, who tested positive for FeLV. There’s no way to tell if he carried the virus before being abandoned, or if he caught it during his time on the street—either way, it’s a cruel turn that could’ve been prevented. Now, Shy’s life has turned another corner: he’s inside, settling onto a real bed for the first time, a little battered but grateful. His bloodwork is stable apart from the FeLV; his lymph nodes are inflamed, but he still has potential for a good quality of life with the right home. Once he feels secure, Shy doesn’t live up to his name—he’s vocal, affectionate, and quick with a head butt or a face slam into your hand when he wants attention. He’s especially enthusiastic about wet food and will come running at the sound of a can opening. Shy deserves a home where someone will appreciate his resilience and offer him care for however long he has. Every animal deserves a happy ending. This one starts with you.
