AvailableJasper is a young male hound/boxer mix with a medium build and a striking black and white/cream coat. About Jasper
Jasper comes from the Gemstones Litter, born on February 4—an Aquarius, which often means a quirky and independent spirit. At his last vet checks, Jasper nearly tripled his weight, showing puppy growth in full swing. He's up to date on all core vaccinations, fully dewormed, and heartworm prevention has been consistent since April. Underneath his sweet and timid demeanor, Jasper is quick to warm up when another friendly dog is around. He knows his way on a leash, sometimes gets excited and pulls, but overall enjoys long sniff walks and yard time with his dog buddies. Right now, he's house-trained as long as you stick to his regular schedule—his foster keeps him on a reliable rotation of potty breaks. Jasper learned crate manners and can keep his sleeping area tidy through the night. He's curious but gentle with cats and enjoys active play with other dogs. Chewing is still very much on his daily agenda, so redirecting him to appropriate toys is necessary. He does best in a calmer home, ideally with older children, to give him time and space while he builds confidence. His foster is teaching him how to ride in a car and experience new places so Jasper learns that strangers aren't so intimidating. Adopters should keep up these gentle exposures. Jasper is still young and needs a home ready to encourage him, especially one with another dog for company. If you're looking for a loyal, sensitive pup, he's one to consider. Questions about Jasper
What type of living environment is this breed usually best suited for?
Jasper, being a Hound/Boxer mix, generally fits best in homes with space to play, especially one with a yard and another friendly dog. He adapts well to an environment where there’s structure, routine, and patient humans to help him build confidence.
How much outdoor space does this breed typically need?
A Hound/Boxer mix like Jasper needs ample outdoor space—at least a securely fenced yard for daily play and sniff walks. While not every moment must be outdoors, regular opportunities to stretch his legs and explore will keep him happy.
Is this breed typically suitable for homes with children?
While Jasper has observed young children in foster, his timid nature means he does best in homes with older kids who understand his need for gentle handling and a calm environment.
