About Bodhigentle Soul Looking For

Age: 6–8 years Weight: 80 lbs Health: Neutered, vaccinated, manageable allergies Bodhi means “awakened,” and this calm, quiet boy is looking for a home in which he can be the easygoing companion he was always meant to be. After coming from an overcrowded inner-city shelter where he was rapidly shutting down, Bodhi was hand-picked by a dedicated volunteer as the perfect fit for a foster home with unique specifications. Now, he’s learning what it means to feel safe, respected, and loved. Bodhi is a laid-back, respectful gentleman. He may be reserved at first, but once he trusts you, he’s the kind of dog who will quietly lean in for affection, rest his big head in your lap, occasionally glance up with adoration and gratitude, and appreciate simply being near you. He’s a low-energy companion who’s happiest in a calm, relaxed home. At home, Bodhi is a world-class napper with intermittent bursts of play. He enjoys mellow play sessions with his Kongs, Nylabones, and stuffies—though he’s not a shredder. Bodhi simply mouths his toys gently and will sometimes toss them in the air to entertain himself. He also plays fetch—at his own slow and steady pace—and knows basic commands like “sit” and “shake.” He exhibits no resource guarding or destructive behaviors, making him a delightfully amicable housemate. Walks with Bodhi? Lovely. He’s a dream on leash and not a puller, making strolls with him a serene and effortless experience. Despite being so laid-back in the home, Bodhi is always up for a walk when one is offered and he savors fresh smells, sites and experiences. Upon encountering something novel on a walk, Bodhi will apprehensively approach the foreign object or experience, realize it means no harm, and then will do a thorough shake of the whole body, as if to release the tension that built up. House manners? Impeccable. Bodhi is completely housebroken and has had just one accident in his three months in foster care—and that was when he was under the weather and his foster was out of the home for several hours. Even then, he was such an exceptional boy that he did his business in the shower. Bonus quirk? Bodhi loves going for car rides. He’s a cruising connoisseur who lives for catching the breeze with his head out the window. He’s clever, too—he’s learned how to roll down the window himself, so child-locks are a must to keep everyone safe and happy. Health notes: Bodhi has mild allergies, easily managed with over-the-counter meds. He also experiences occasional reverse sneezing—something his vet attributes to a combination of his anatomy and allergies. It doesn’t slow him down or affect his quality of life. Ideal Home: Bodhi does best in a tranquil environment—so we’re recommending a home without young children. He seems most confident around female dogs, especially those who are a bit sassy—he’s happy to take a back seat! In fact, Bodhi’s domineering 35-pound canine foster sister provides regular reminders of how sensitive and agreeable Bodhi is. Whether it’s a firm glare, low growl, or vicious lunge from his foster sister, the reaction from this 80-pound boy is invariably to turn away, back up and avoid confrontation at all costs. This has won the heart of his selective sister—no easy feat!!! If you're looking for a soft-hearted, steady companion with a love of life’s simple pleasures—like long naps, breezy drives, slow games of fetch, tossing around a favorite stuffy, and mindful walks—Bodhi may be your perfect match.
