About Oskar
Oskar came to the rescue in early 2023 after surviving a breeder dump, where his world had been mostly limited to crates and used for breeding, with little human kindness. Of the group rescued, he and his buddy Cricket have taken longer to adjust, but every week brings new progress. Oskar is a mini Australian Shepherd with a striking blue merle coat, piercing blue eyes, and a presence that grabs your attention. At 32 lbs and born in mid-2022, he's still discovering how to be a companion, since his earliest years weren’t much of a childhood. Oskar needs a patient, experienced home. He is smart, very sweet at his core, and while he adores cuddles and sneaking up for pets, his trust is still a work in progress. He isn’t suitable for families with children—he's easily spooked by new people and chaos. Oskar thrives with other dogs and absolutely requires another playful, confident canine in the house to help guide and comfort him. He’s housetrained with a doggy door, crate-trained, and has a knack for collecting all his toys into a “secret garden” outdoors. He doesn’t bark much, but instead gives a gentle “Woo Woo” when he tries to speak up. He needs adopters who work from home or are active retirees, comfortable with a dog who will need time and plenty of encouragement. Oskar still needs more training, especially with leash work and building confidence. He’s healthy, neutered, and up to date on vaccines. Out-of-state adoptions are not considered. If you’re ready to invest in a project with huge potential and big heart, Oskar might just be the one to win you over. Ready to fall in love? Hit apply and lets get started.
