About Mellow
Mellow is a striking white, blue-eyed senior cat whose world is quiet—she’s completely deaf, but she fills that gap with a piercing meow and a love for following her foster mom around. She does best as the only pet in a calm, experienced cat home with no young children or busy traffic that might leave doors open, since her safety relies on staying strictly indoors. Mellow isn’t quick to trust and will take time to decompress in a new place, but for someone patient and gentle, she’ll blossom—snuggling up at night, rubbing against your legs, and soaking up soft brushing sessions when she’s in the mood. Routine vet visits require sedation, as she can’t be handled in a clinic. She won’t let you trim her nails, so you’ll need to provide tall and varied scratchers throughout the house. TVs make her nervous, and she’ll avoid rooms where they’re on. Cabinets and closets are her hideouts, so you’ll want to childproof any low ones. She’s fussy with food, sticking to a specific canned and dry diet focused on chicken, turkey, salmon, and sometimes bits of fish. Toys aren’t really her thing, but she’ll bat at sunbeams or play with leaves, strings, or the occasional Q-tip. For litter, she’s accustomed to a breeze system. She’ll sleep beside you every night but isn’t a lap cat, and she will let you know when she’s had enough attention.
