Clyde is a three-year-old, small Chihuahua/Jack Russell Terrier mix with a white, cream, and apricot coat. He is neutered and vaccinated, and lives in Hudson, IL. Though a bit overweight at 12 pounds, Clyde is healthy and looking for a home with at least one other friendly dog. His temperament suits a patient household without young children, and he's ready for someone who will help him grow his trust and confidence.

About Clyde

Clyde isn’t just any small dog—he’s a survivor with a spirit that just needed the right chance. He arrived at animal control absolutely terrified, so much so he’d show his teeth at anyone who tried to approach. That fear nearly cost him his life, but a foster stepped up and everything changed. With another dog by his side and true patience, Clyde learned to let his guard down. He craves the company of other dogs and comes out of his shell best with a four-legged friend around. At about three years old and a plump 12 pounds, this Chihuahua/Jack Russell mix needs a home with at least one friendly dog. He doesn’t do well with young children and still gets nervous with strangers, so an adopter committed to going slow is a must. Clyde loves walks, rides in the car, and a good cuddle or play session. He’s crate trained but should never be forced out—he’ll come when he’s ready. Much of Clyde’s trust has to be earned, but it’s worth every minute. He’s neutered, vaccinated, microchipped, and current on his preventatives. Located in Hudson, IL, adopters must be willing to travel for pick-up and meet the basic adoption requirements. Clyde can’t wait to find the patient person who’ll appreciate his quirky, loyal heart. Ready to meet your new best friend? Apply now!

  • How much outdoor space does this breed typically need?

Small breeds like Clyde don’t require a huge yard, but he does benefit from daily walks and some outdoor play. An apartment with regular walks or a house with a small, secure yard works well for him.

  • Is this breed typically suitable for homes with children?

Chihuahua/Jack Russell mixes have energy and can be playful, but Clyde is not suited for homes with young children. Older children who respect his boundaries may be fine, but his best fit is an adult home or one with teens.
