About Emerald

Are you looking for a calm, cuddly little panther to welcome you home after a long day at work, to help you decompress? If so, Emerald is your man. Named for his exceptionally beautiful green peepers, Emerald is also totally a gem of a boy! He is big on affectionate head butts and leg rubs. Emerald is the sweetest little love bug you’ll ever meet. At first, he likes to quietly “read the room,” making sure everything feels safe—he’s a bit cautious around big noises or barking dogs until he observes there’s no imminent threat (understandable from his time on the streets). But once he realizes you’re a friend, his whole heart shines through. He’s literally the Halloween cat with his funny skinny little long legs. Whoever ends up with him will be so lucky, he’s such a lover! His voice is quiet but his purrs are loud! Emerald would probably do okay in a home with other cats if you’re looking for a lap cat but he is also happy on his own in a home where he will get plenty of lap time. Currently in foster care in Sherman Oaks. Foster-to-adopt is always an available option and recommendation. All Del Gato kitties are spayed/neutered, vaccinated, microchipped, tested for FIV/FeLv, dewormed, and flea treated prior to adoption. To begin the application process, please fill out our application here: https://form.jotform.com/212117959297062 We will try our best to be in touch within 24-48 hours. Thank you! ____________________ Del Gato Rescue is a small 501(c)(3) nonprofit cat rescue based in Los Angeles, CA. We are a handful of volunteers who work normal jobs by day and rescue cats on nights & weekends. We receive countless daily requests from the community for assistance with cats and kittens found outside in need of rescue. We focus on rescuing friendly cats from the streets, getting them healthy and vetted in foster care, and finding their purrrfect forever home! We prevent hundreds of cats per year from entering our city shelters and being euthanized. We also TNR (Trap-Neuter-Return) and vaccinate unadoptable/feral street cats, which we believe is the only solution to the root cause of the feline population crisis. When space allows, we also pull death-row cats from local high kill shelters, work with them in foster care, get them up to date on their healthcare, and match them with their new forever family. If you'd like to volunteer with us, fostering is a great way to help our cause, and it allows us space to save more kitties off the streets. If you are unable to foster, we are also always looking for help with transportation to and from vet appointments. Please send us an email at delgatorescue@gmail.com to be a part of our rescue community. Thanks for your support!
